Dinkweng Safari Camp is a wildlife sanctuary in the Malaria free UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and committed to sustainable development and conservation. Owners can participate in conservation programmes for animals which are under threat from habitat loss, culling or poaching. Today, an estimated 9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs remain in the wild in Africa compared to 100,000 in 1900 and their future is uncertain due to a variety of threats. The biggest is habitat loss due to human encroachment. Owners can also aid with sable breeding, leopard releases and buffalo and white rhino programmes.
Discerning owners can also contribute by adopting animals such as the elephant, lion, buffalo bull or cheetah and get regular updates about the progress and track their location on a computer. A wide variety of indigenous game can be viewed on the safari camp including giraffe, kudu and bush buck.
Owners can exchange their time at Dinkweng with other five star properties within the Zorgvliet Group, such as at the Zorgvliet Vineyard Estate & Spa (near Stellenbosch). Alluvia Specialist Winery (near Stellenbosch), Riviera on Vaal Hotel & Country Club (near Johannesburg) and The King George Hotel (Garden Route), as well as at over 2000 international resorts through the exchange programme Interval International.
